ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair a high-level meeting in Quetta on Thursday (today) on the law-and-order situation in Balochistan during a daylong visit to the provincial capital, Express News reported.
The prime minister will also preside over a meeting of the provincial Apex Committee. The meeting will review the overall law and order situation in the province, while the relevant authorities will brief the prime minister on the prevailing security situation.
Balochistan this week three major terrorist attacks in which 42 security personnel and civilians were martyred in different parts of the province. The military said on Wednesday that the counterterrorism operations in response to the attacks had killed 54 terrorists.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti chaired a meeting in Ziarat after nine policemen were martyred in a terrorist attack. In a statement, Bugti warned that anyone challenging the writ of the state will face only defeat and destruction.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that indiscriminate operations against terrorists and their facilitators will continue until the last militant is eliminated. He stressed that those who raise arms against the state will find no refuge in Balochistan.
Bugti emphasised that there will be no compromise on the peace, stability, and development of Balochistan, and every conspiracy against the province will be crushed with strength, determination, and national unity.
