Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in the United States after British authorities filed more criminal charges against them.
The US Marshals confirmed that the brothers were taken into custody. A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said the arrests were made as part of extradition proceedings.
The arrest comes as UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the new charges on Saturday and confirmed it has asked for the brothers to be extradited to the UK.
Andrew Tate has been charged with seven more counts of rape, along with other offences linked to alleged sex trafficking and child pornography.
Meanwhile, Tristan Tate has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or helping sex trafficking.
Prosecutors said the alleged crimes took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The brothers have denied all allegations.
The CPS has said the new evidence came from Bedfordshire Police and brings the total number of alleged rape victims to seven.
In response, the brothers’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, have called the new charges “a political hit,” and urged that his clients are innocent. He also claimed the case was linked to a defamation lawsuit the brothers filed in the US.
“We are confident that once a judge reviews the facts, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” McBride said.
The Tate brothers are both British and American citizens.
In May 2025, UK prosecutors confirmed that Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 37, would face 21 criminal charges in the UK over alleged offences said to have happened between 2012 and 2016.
The brothers are also facing a separate criminal investigation in Romania, where they have been living. Last year, Bedfordshire Police secured European arrest warrants to bring them back from Romania.
In June, the brothers also lost a legal challenge to force prosecutors to reveal the names of their UK accusers before court proceedings began.
