Sweet Dreams: What is the best time of the day to take shower?

Some argue that a morning shower invigorates and prepares you for the day, while others insist on a nighttime ritual to cleanse away the day’s accumulated dirt before hitting the sheets. But what time is better to take a bath?

According to Unilad, despite the varying opinions, experts have now shared insights on the superior timing for an evening shower over a morning one. Showering at night can contribute to a better night’s sleep, as studies suggest that doing so 90 minutes before bedtime can expedite falling asleep.

For those with sore muscles from a day’s work, a warm evening shower can provide relief by easing muscle tension, preventing cramps, and promoting more restful sleep.

Moreover, it’s gentler on the skin and hair, allowing the natural air-drying process to lock in moisture, keeping both shiny and healthy.

Nightly showers also address concerns about skin problems like acne, preventing impurities collected during the day from transferring to pillowcases and affecting the skin’s regeneration process during sleep.

Additionally, it helps reduce allergens on bedding, especially for those with seasonal allergies.

Furthermore, nighttime showers contribute to better body odour control, as a cool shower can prevent night sweats, ultimately enhancing the overall sleep experience.

In a separate discussion, the frequency of underwear changes has been a topic of consideration. Recommendations from dermatologists suggest factors such as the type of underwear, activities, and climate should influence this decision.

Loose-fitting styles like boxers may allow for longer wear, but it’s crucial to consider potential skin issues and infections associated with extended use.

As for morning habits, a sleep expert advises against consuming coffee within the first hour of waking. Waiting at least an hour is recommended to maximise the caffeine’s benefits and avoid potential tolerance issues.

Alternatives like turmeric lattes, matcha, peppermint, and ginger tea are suggested for a natural, decaffeinated energy boost.

Finally, a health warning related to toilet hygiene has surfaced on TikTok, cautioning against flushing the toilet while still seated due to the release of bacteria-containing droplets into the air. Closing the lid before flushing is recommended to minimise health risks.

In a surprising twist, sleeping in the nude during winter has been endorsed by a sleep expert.

Contrary to the belief that bundling up is the best way to stay warm, sleeping naked is said to regulate body temperature, improve sleep quality, benefit skin health, and enhance relationships through increased intimacy and reduced stress levels.

For those considering this change, practical tips include having a shower before bedtime, changing sheets, gradually acclimatising to nudity by starting with lighter clothing and ensuring a warm sleeping environment with a thick quilt.

Communication with a partner about this choice can also contribute to a positive adjustment. Will you be embracing the nude this holiday season with these helpful tips?
