Security forces conducted effective intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) over the past two months under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, security sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, security forces destroyed multiple terrorist hideouts during the operations in North Waziristan. “Several terrorists were killed during an operation in the Khatti Killi area of North Waziristan,” the sources said.

A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was also recovered from the terrorists killed in the operation, they added. “Several terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij were also injured during the operations,” the sources said.

Fitna al-Khawarij is the term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The sources said the operations were carried out to protect the lives and property of the public while ensuring that the local population was not harmed. “Security forces will continue operations across K-P until lasting peace is established and terrorism is completely eliminated,” the sources said.

Last week, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said security forces had conducted 40,348 IBOs across the country so far this year, with the majority taking place in Balochistan. “Nearly 194 intelligence-based operations are being conducted every day,” he said.

The DG ISPR said 3,145 terrorist incidents had been recorded during the period, while security forces had killed 2,084 terrorists, averaging about 10 terrorists being killed every day. He added that 819 people had embraced martyrdom this year, including 303 personnel from the Pakistan Army, 194 law enforcement agencies and 322 civilians.

He further said there had been 28 suicide bombing incidents this year, adding that the majority of the suicide bombers were Afghan nationals. “The majority of them are Afghans. The Afghan national involved in the Tank attack was also an Afghan. Afghan nationals and people associated with their security forces are among the terrorists killed and captured,” he added.

Comparing the figures with previous years, the DG ISPR said security forces had killed 2,597 terrorists during the whole of 2025, while 2,084 had already been killed so far in 2026.
