Princess Eugenie’s baby No 3: What we know about name, royal position

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have received thousnads of congratulations messages after announcing her third baby birth.

The delightful announcement has already sparked excitement across social media, with fans speculating about possible names and royal traditions.

Eugenie and Jack, are known for keeping their family life relatively private, so the wait for a name reveal is only adding to the anticipation.

As for the royal position, the new arrival will join a growing generation of young royals further down the line of succession

The birth marks another milestone for the York family. It also brings a change in the royal line of succession – particularly for King Charles’ younger brother Prince Edward along with his children, James, Earl of Wessex, and Lady Louise Windsor.

The new royal baby, who was born in putugal, has bumped Prince Edward down to 16th in line to the throne.

While Buckingham Palace has not shared the baby’s name yet, it’s expected to follow the same pattern as Eugenie’s previous announcements — a brief statement followed by photos.

The baby girl, who was born in August 2026, enters the British line of succession at 15th place, directly after her older brother Ernest.

In a new statement, the Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.

Eugenie, though styled Her Royal Highness, does not carry out engagements on behalf of King Charles. She and her older sister Princess Beatrice support the royal family at occasions such as Easter and Christmas.

The daughters of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were provided HRH titles by birthright as legitimate granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II through the male line, under rules set by King George V in 1917.
