ISLAMABAD – Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority once again trimmed petroleum prices, bringing petrol rate down to Rs. 327.62 per litre in its second fuel price cut within just 24 hours. While it’s unlikely to make anyone forget the months of soaring fuel costs, every rupee seems to count these days.
According to a notification issued by OGRA, the price of petrol has been reduced by 2.20 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs. 327.62 per litre, effective August 8. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been cut by Rs. 1.50 per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 380.86 per litre.

The latest revision follows another reduction announced just a day earlier, when petrol prices were lowered by Rs. 3.19 per litre and diesel by Rs. 1.50 per litre.
Together, the two announcements have reduced petrol prices by Rs. 5.39 per litre and diesel prices by Rs. 3.00 per litre—a welcome change after consumers had grown accustomed to frequent price hikes rather than consecutive cuts.
Although the reductions will ease fuel expenses for motorists, transporters, and businesses, many consumers are likely to be asking the same question: Will transport fares and everyday prices come down just as quickly, or will the savings stop at the fuel pump? The answer, as always, will depend on how the market responds in the days ahead.
