Buckingham Palace has a proper plan in place as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex move back to the UK and concerns grow about a possible return to the royal fold.

Six years ago, the royal family was rocked by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave their senior working positions to live independently from the Firm.

After an explosive docuseries and memoir, tell-all interviews and broken bonds, the Sussexes will be returning to England, in hopes of starting fresh and repairing family relations. However, it is no way near an easy road and the Firm will be taking strict measures even if the family shows clemency.

According to Rob Shuter, who has previously worked at the Palace as a publicist of one of the senior royals, explained that Royal Family is “one thing” and The Firm is “another”.

Even though, Harry and Meghan do attract attention where ever they go, but attention does not equate to power. Hence, the Palace isn’t worried about the Sussexes dominating the headlines as that does not have control over the actual monarchy.

“Initially, every sighting will generate headlines. But the Palace understands what happens when you stop feeding a story: eventually it shrinks,” Rob opined. “Charles will work. William and Catherine will work. Anne will work. The monarchy will simply continue.”

Hence, the Palace “won’t try to silence them” as they are not worried about them but rather prefers to have them in Britain.

“Distance creates intrigue. Every visit becomes an event, every photograph a potential reconciliation,” he continued. “Proximity makes them ordinary.”

Meanwhile, Charles can have a relationship with his son and grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, privately and spend time with them without handing over an official role.

Harry and Meghan have said they are not returning as working royals. Charles can therefore welcome his son privately and spend time with Archie and Lilibet without giving the Sussexes an official role.
