Pakistan have slipped further in the ICC Test team rankings after their defeat to England, remaining eighth as Bangladesh surged three places to a career-best sixth following their historic tour of Australia.
Pakistan are eighth with 1,427 points, while Sri Lanka sit seventh with 1,222 points.
Pakistan suffered an innings-and-103-run defeat in the opening Test of the three-match series against England at Headingley on Friday.
Trailing by 238 runs after the first innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 135 in their second innings, handing the hosts a convincing victory.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s rise followed a historic away series against Australia that ended in a 1-1 draw, pushing both Sri Lanka and Pakistan down the rankings.
Bangladesh’s historic rise came after they recorded their first-ever Test victory on Australian soil, beating the hosts by nine wickets in the opening Test at Marrara Stadium.
Australia retained the top spot, followed by South Africa and New Zealand, while India and England remain fourth and fifth respectively.
In addition to their slide in the rankings, Pakistan’s defeat also saw them drop back to the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings, with a modest points percentage of 19.05. They have won just two of their seven matches and suffered five defeats.
Australia continue to lead the WTC table after winning eight of their 10 Tests and losing two. They have accumulated 96 points with a points percentage of 80.00. Defending champions South Africa occupy second place with three wins from four matches, collecting 36 points at a points percentage of 75.00.
