Nvidia Growth Survey: Nearly 80% of Nvidia employees are now millionaires, survey says: What drove the wealth wave inside the chip giant

Nvidia employees have reportedly seen their wealth rise sharply

The artificial intelligence boom has created a striking rise in wealth among employees of Nvidia, the US-based chipmaker whose processors have become central to the development of AI systems.Nearly 80% of Nvidia employees are reportedly millionaires, while about half have a net worth exceeding $25 million, according to a report cited by The Economic Times. The figures are based on an internal survey of more than 3,000 Nvidia employees conducted in June 2025.According to the report, between 76% and 78% of those surveyed were millionaires, while around half reported having a net worth of more than $25 million. The survey covered about 10% of Nvidia’s workforce at the time. The figures were also highlighted by financial commentary platform The Kobeissi Letter in a post on X on August 4, 2025, which said roughly 80% of Nvidia employees were millionaires and around 50% had a net worth above $25 million. The Economic Times report attributed the figures to reporting by Benzinga and the survey findings.

How Nvidia employees accumulated wealth

One factor highlighted in the report is Nvidia’s employee stock purchase programme. The programme allows employees to purchase company shares at a 15% discount. With Nvidia’s stock rising sharply alongside demand for AI chips, employees holding company shares have seen the value of their investments increase. The reported wealth figures refer to employees’ overall net worth and do not mean that employees necessarily have $1 million or more in cash. Their wealth can include company shares and other assets.Nvidia’s rapid expansion in the AI-chip market has been accompanied by a sharp increase in its market value. At the time of the Economic Times report, the company had a market capitalisation of $4.39 trillion and had become the world’s most valuable publicly traded company, according to the report.

Nvidia’s rise during the AI boom

Nvidia has emerged as a key supplier of graphics processing units, or GPUs, used to train and run artificial intelligence models. The growing demand for AI computing from technology companies has driven demand for Nvidia’s chips and contributed to a substantial rise in the company’s share price. The Economic Times report said Nvidia’s stock had risen more than 79% over the previous 12 months and more than 30% year to date at the time. The increase in Nvidia’s valuation has also had a significant effect on the wealth of its largest shareholders, including co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang. The report put Huang’s net worth at more than $157 billion at the time. What Jensen Huang said about employee wealthHuang has previously spoken about Nvidia’s approach to employee compensation and stock ownership.During a podcast appearance with venture capitalists Chamath Palihapitiya and Jason Calacanis, Huang discussed the company’s practice of rewarding employees with stock. He said he had created more billionaires on his management team than any other CEO, according to the Economic Times report.Huang also said that the company places importance on taking care of its employees and giving talented teams the resources and rewards associated with their contributions.

What the survey figures mean

The reported numbers provide a snapshot of Nvidia employee wealth based on the June 2025 survey. They should not be interpreted as an audited assessment of the net worth of every person working at the company. The survey covered more than 3,000 employees, while Nvidia had around 30,000 employees when the poll was conducted, according to the report. The findings nevertheless show the extent to which Nvidia’s rapid growth has affected employees who hold company stock. As the chipmaker’s valuation climbed with the expansion of the AI industry, equity-based compensation and employee share purchases became increasingly valuable. For Nvidia employees who accumulated shares during the company’s earlier years of growth, the rise in the stock’s value has translated into a substantial increase in personal wealth, according to the reported survey findings.
