Nuclear battery produces power for 50 years without needing to charge – SUCH TV

In a groundbreaking development, Betavolt Technology, a Beijing-based startup, is pioneering a new era of smartphone batteries that could potentially render charging obsolete.

Reports suggest that the company is actively working on nuclear technology for various battery applications, with the potential to store a charge for an astounding 50 years.

Betavolt’s innovative nuclear battery utilizes a diamond semiconductor layer and a decaying nickel isotope, deviating from conventional plutonium-based designs.

This breakthrough not only extends the battery life to unprecedented levels but also addresses safety concerns associated with radioactive materials.

Unlike traditional nuclear batteries, Betavolt’s creation claims to emit no radiation and lacks the toxic elements commonly found in conventional counterparts.

The safety advantages extend beyond avoiding explosions, showcasing remarkable resilience in extreme temperature conditions, ranging from -60 to 120 degrees Celsius.

Betavolt proudly declares its success in achieving the “miniaturization of atomic energy batteries.” The BV100, a module smaller than a coin, encapsulates 63 nuclear isotopes and delivers a charge of up to 100 microwatts.

Despite its diminutive size (15 x 15 x 5mm), this nuclear battery astonishingly provides a voltage of 3V, making it a potential game-changer for the smartphone industry.

The BV100’s compact design implies a myriad of applications, from powering smartphones to potentially larger devices. For devices requiring more power, Betavolt suggests the possibility of combining two or more batteries to meet increased energy demands.

While Betavolt Technology remains optimistic about the potential of its nuclear battery, the project is still in its early stages.

The company is eyeing mass production but acknowledges that it may be a considerable amount of time before this revolutionary technology finds its way into the mainstream consumer market.

In a world where smartphones have become indispensable, Betavolt’s ambitious endeavor sparks anticipation for a future where the hassle of frequent charging may become a distant memory. However, as with any pioneering technology, the journey from conceptualization to widespread adoption is likely to be a gradual and meticulous process.
