The investigation into the case of young businessman Mir Raza Ali continues, with police yet to make any major breakthrough as they await further clarification and verification of key points in chemical analysis reports.

According to sources privy to the development, the investigation team late at night visited the location where Ali’s body was found and fired two shots at the site during the selected time to assess how far the sound of gunfire could be heard in nearby residential areas, sources said.

The team also questioned people present at a nearby mosque, nursery and other locations as part of efforts to determine whether firing had taken place at the same spot on July 28.

Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, was found dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar a day after he went missing on July 28. His father has maintained that his son was murdered and rejected suggestions that his death was a case of suicide.

CCTV footage

Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the night between July 28 and 29 has emerged, showing a person at some distance from the location where Ali’s body was found at around 4:50am.

A police mobile can also be seen in the footage, while a police official appears at the location at around 5:45am.

According to the footage, the police official remained in the vicinity of the spot where the body was found for around two and a quarter hours. The presence of a police mobile just a few yards from the location has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Speaking to the media, Ali’s father alleged that Dr Osama was removed from his position so that he could not provide answers regarding the case. He claimed that the doctor prepared the post-mortem report based only on photographs and under pressure.

Ali’s father also alleged that he could see signs of tampering by the Sindh government in the case.

Separately, Sindh Police issued its first formal statement on the case, saying an investigation team was continuing its probe and reviewing medical reports, evidence and the work carried out by the previous investigation team.

According to the police spokesperson, certain points in the reports require further clarification, for which information is being sought from the relevant institutions.

The spokesperson said clarification of the unclear points in the chemical analysis reports could lead to important progress in the investigation.

Police said the investigation was continuing on the basis of available technical, digital, forensic and other reliable evidence.
