After his initial response, Mike Vrabel seems to have changed tack and reflected on his actions, stating he is “promising” his team and fans that they will see the “best version” of him.
The New England head coach’s statement was in response to a controversy that sparked after photos of him with ex-The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini – where they are getting cosy – were published.
Though Vrabel did not address his relationship with Russini or snaps with her, he does say, “I’ve had some difficult conversations with people I care about — with my family, the organisation, the coaches, the players.”
“Those have been positive and productive. We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me.”
“We never want our actions to negatively affect the team. We never want to be the cause of a distraction. There are comments and questions that I’ve answered for the team and with the team. We’ll keep those private.”
