Lili Reinhart reveals why she ‘felt convinced’ to do ‘The Love Hypothesis’

Lili Reinhart recently admitted that she was skeptical about The Love Hypothesis.

For those unaware, the forthcoming comedy film, The Love Hypothesis, is based on Ali Hazelwood’s best-selling novel, which centres around “a PhD student Olive (played by Reinhart) and her professor Dr. Carlsen (played by Tom Bateman) as they enter a fake relationship to put their theories about love to the test.”

While promoting her upcoming film during the Obsessed Fest panel on June 27, the 29-year-old American actress revealed that she had not read the book when she got the script.

She recalled, “The script was brought to me. I hadn’t read the book yet, but as soon as I got the script, I read the script and then I went and read the book and then I felt convinced to do it.”

“I wasn’t sure I wanted to do a romantic comedy, but then I was very quickly sold on the idea,” the Riverdale star stated.

Bateman jumped in the conversation during the panel discussion, claiming that he had the same experience.

“I got sent the script first. I had heard about the book, but I hadn’t read it. Like Lili, I wasn’t entirely sure a romantic comedy was in my future. But I read it and just fell in love with the characters and the world,” the British actor said.

It is pertinent to mention that Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman’s The Love Hypothesis is scheduled to be released in cinemas on September 23, 2026. Watch the trailer here.
