Justin Moore, a renowned American singer and songwriter, recently got candid about his rehab experience.
Moore appeared on TL’s Road House podcast, where he revealed that he decided to step away from music and touring to prioritize his health in June of this year.
He shared, “A drink at 5 [p.m.] turned into three at noon and then before you know it it’s all day every day and not even really getting smashed.”
The Why We Drink crooner went on to admit that “it started affecting my life. I just kind of looked at myself in the mirror … I was putting so much energy into drinking and all that kind of stuff that it was taking away not only my professionalism but my family, most importantly church.”
A year ago, Moore’s friends informed him about the problem he was going through but he was not ready to digest the truth.
“Everybody grew up except me. I was hanging on by a thread,” the Kinda Don’t Care hitmaker quipped, adding that one day after he came back from Church and told his wife that he “got to get help” and went to rehab.
“I don’t even know what prompted it. I just thought, ‘Man, I want to get healthy.’ I feel like myself for the first time in a while. I’m actually proud of myself for the first time in a while,” he confessed.
It is pertinent to mention that Justin Moore, who treated his rehab like a “business trip,” has been sober for 65 days.
