Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, has earned a significant income from OnlyFans.
Cave, 39, made the claim herself as she spoke with The Times, revealing she has made more money in one year on the platform than during her entire acting career. She said she once even earned about $20,000 in a single day.
While she charges a small monthly fee for subscribers, most of her income comes from additional paid content.
Cave explained that she joined the platform hoping to earn some extra money for a short time, but it ended up helping support her family for over a year.
“I thought I’d make five grand, be on it for a few months and it would buy me time to work out what we’re going to do,” she told the outlet. “But it’s now been over a year and a half and it’s genuinely saved our lives.”
She said she had previously reached a very difficult point in her life due to a lack of acting job opportunities. She explained that traditional jobs weren’t a good fit for her financially.
“I couldn’t go and, say, work in a supermarket because I can’t afford the childcare, and also I don’t want people shouting ‘Harry Potter’ spells at me as I work at Tesco,” explained Cave, who shares four kids with longtime partner Alfie Brown.
Cave shared that going back to school wasn’t an option either, since she couldn’t afford tuition.
“I could retrain but I can’t afford to do a degree,” she added. “I had a breakdown and I thought, that’s it with acting, I give up. But also we have no money.”
She also mentioned that some of her online content includes wearing costumes tied to her Harry Potter character, as well as niche content focused on her hair, which she says has a dedicated fan interest.
“My rule is the hair is the main character,” she shared, noting, “That’s how I justify it. It’s literally about hair: the texture of hair. The fetish. It’s very, very niche.”
She elaborated that she remains fully clothed in this content.
Cave said the experience has been empowering for her, especially after feeling overlooked for years after having four children.
“For so long I’ve just been this quirky figure,” she told the news outlet. “After having four kids and feeling invisible for so long that was really appealing to me.”
