French actress Nadia Farès has passed away at the age of 57.

The Morocco-born star was found unconscious in the swimming pool of a gym in Paris on April 11.

Nadia, best known for her breakthrough role in The Crimson Rivers, had been in a coma since the incident.

The actress’ daughters announced her death. In a statement to AFP, Cylia and Shana Chasman revealed that their mother suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Friday, April 17.

“It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès this Friday,” they said.

“France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost,” continued the statement.

The sisters also requested “respect and discretion” while they expressed their grief over the death of their mother.

For those unversed, Nadia rose to fame in 2000 after starring in the crime thriller film, The Crimson Rivers. The actress had recently returned to Paris, France, after living in the United States.

Nadia was due to direct her first movie later this year.
