To speed up project delivery, federal organizers plan to launch an online resource hub for lenders and set up joint working groups to streamline application requirements.
While core programs like the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds have provided more than $265 billion for roughly 76,000 projects historically, administrative slowdowns still leave funds unspent in several states.
Industry groups represent a crucial voice in these changes, as more than 92% of U.S. community water systems serve populations under 10,000. With national water infrastructure needs projected to exceed $1 trillion in the coming years, officials hope these joint working groups will move essential projects from planning stages to active construction much faster.
