Drew Starkey recalls hilarious adventure on ‘Lucky’ set

Drew Starkey recently opened up about his own adventures on the set of Lucky.

While conversing with PEOPLE magazine to promote his recent Apple TV+ project, the 32-year-old American actor shared his “favourite memory” from the action scenes on set.

Calling to mind, Starkey told the outlet about an incident when he had a hilarious misunderstanding with authorities, as his co-star Anya Taylor-Joy’s stunt double Hayley Wright was “tearing it up” when they were getting ready to shoot a driving scene; they “burst” out of a garage door and onto a “beautiful, long beach.”

He revealed that the scene was filmed with a “long lens” so they were unable to have immediate help from their crew members.

The Onslaught star quipped, “She’s tearing up the sand and we get down to our end mark, and we see lights behind us and I look at the ground. I was like, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize that they were going to throw cops in this section of the scene.’ And Hayley was like, ‘I think we’re getting pulled over.’ And we were.”

A police officer got them, “walked up to the driver’s” side and asked what they were up to at that point.

“He’s like, ‘There [are] no cars allowed on the beach.’ She’s like, ‘We’re filming a movie. We’re so sorry.’ And he looked around and he was like, ‘Where are the cameras?’”

“So that’d be the worst thing you could ever say to a police officer. He was like, ‘Oh, sir, sir, sir. No, what you just saw, it’s not real. It’s film,’” Taylor-Joy remarked.

It is pertinent to mention that Lucky premiered globally with the first two episodes on July 15, 2026.
