A double-decker bus crashed into a house in a quiet Norfolk village on Thursday morning, smashing through part of the property and leaving debris scattered across the road.

The crash happened at around 10:12 a.m. on West Road in Ormesby St Margaret, near Great Yarmouth.

Pictures from the scene show the bus lodged in the side of the period property, with a large section of the building badly damaged. Part of the roof also came down onto the road.

Yet despite the force of the collision, nobody was injured.

Norfolk Police said there were no reported injuries, while ITV News reported that around seven or eight people had been on the bus.

One neighbour who witnessed the crash said the sound was so loud that he initially thought an explosion had happened.

“I saw a big cloud of dust. It sounded like an explosion. It sounded like a bomb going off,” Kevin Griffin, 64, told ITV News.

Griffin said he ran toward the bus and helped people get off after the collision.

The house had also been undergoing a lengthy renovation. Its owners had reportedly spent the past six years working on the property before the bus smashed into it.

Fire crews from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Carrow and Dereham were sent to the scene along with an Urban Search and Rescue team.

The road was closed while emergency crews worked to make the area safe. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
