Dolly Parton spent years preparing for the future of her career, ensuring that many of her creative projects would continue even after her death.
Her longtime manager, Danny Nozell, made the revelation following her demise at age 80, saying the singer worked closely with a carefully chosen team over several years to plan out a long-term roadmap for her legacy.
“Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy,” he said in a statement.
He explained that many projects are already in various stages of development and encouraged fans to trust that anything released through official channels reflects Parton’s personal involvement and approval.
“Many projects were in various stages of development, and we want to be transparent with her fans about this fact. If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences, and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it.”
Several projects are already moving forward, including a new travel initiative “Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops” honouring truck drivers, and a themed hotel experience opening later this year, with stays beginning September 14 and a grand opening scheduled for September 29.
Other planned projects include an avatar-based show that Parton had recently discussed publicly, along with a documentary, biopic, docuseries, scripted series, and an animated project centered on the story of Billy the Kid.
Parton was also looking ahead to the holiday season with Dolly on the Holly, coming in holiday 2026. The Broadway production of DOLLY: A True Original Musical will also move forward as planned.
In addition, several branded ventures are set to launch over the next year, including a museum named Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum, opening September 29.
A fashion collaboration Kendra Scott x Dolly “9 to 5” Collection is also coming in January 2027.
Also lined up are pet products Dolly’s Dog Treats set for early 2027 and Dolly bedding and home decor in the third quarter of 2027.
Parton remained personally involved in many of these projects, including a line of dolls Dolly Dolls modeled after her, about which she joked, “This one has had Botox, this one has not yet. We’re all plastic, ain’t we? It doesn’t matter.”
Her food and beverage ventures are also set to continue growing, including a line of Southern-inspired frozen meals created through partnerships with major food companies. The lineup features comfort dishes such as chicken and dumplings, country fried steak, and shrimp and grits, along with baking mixes for items like cornbread, biscuits, and desserts.
Speaking about her chicken and dumplings meal specifically, Parton once shared, “It’s a dish that’s close to my heart. And now, I get to share that same comfort and flavour with all of you.”
Her coffee brand Dolly’s Cup of Ambition Coffee also remains part of her ongoing legacy, with Parton previously encouraging fans using a phrase inspired by her famous song 9 to 5, saying, “A cup of ambition is available now. Pour yourself a cup.”
Her team says more updates on upcoming projects and future plans will continue to be shared in the months ahead.
