Brenda Song recently shared her perspective on motherhood and how she maintains balance between work and private life.
For those unaware, Song and her fiancé Macaulay Culkin welcomed two sons together. Their eldest child Dakota was born in April 2021 and second child Carson in December 2022. The couple, who first met on the set of Changeland, announced their engagement in 2022.
Song chatted with PEOPLE magazine for an interview where she opened up about motherhood and its impact on her career.
The mother of two told that outlet that her beliefs about work-life balance drastically changed after becoming mother and she “really had to be really intentional about it when kids came along.”
She shared, “Mac and I always had a two-week rule. We never are away for more than two weeks, but kids came along and it became very different, because now we’re balancing so many other things.”
While setting her priorities straight, Song made sure to spend time with her kids as well as she told herself, “Brenda, you can’t spend an hour every night when everyone goes to sleep and clean the house. You need sleep.”
The Running Point star had to leave “certain things” just because she wanted to be with her kids and she and the Home Alone star “always try to be there” for their sons.
“So pick-up and drop-off, it’s always one of us. We try, and we’re very, very fortunate to be in a position where we’ve never had an issue where one of us isn’t at home with the kids,” Brenda Song noted.
