Brand New Day’ beats ‘Endgame’ box office record

‘Avengers’ directors react as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ beats ‘Endgame’ box office record

Since 2019, Endgame had been at the top, but now there is a new champion, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the Russo brothers – the directors of the Avengers – are happy to pass over the box office crown.

In a public post on Instagram, the filmmaking duo congratulated the Spidey team on hitting the coveted $1 billion mark.

Not to mention, smashing Endgame’s long-standing opening weekend record of $357 million.

Alongside the photo showing Spider-Man wearing something akin to the Infinity Gauntlet, the Russo brothers penned, “Huge congratulations to Destin, Tom, Zendaya, Jacob, Jon, Mark, Sadie, Florence, Michael, Marisa, producers Kevin, Amy, Avi, and Rachel, and the entire ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ cast and crew on making domestic box office opening weekend history.”

“The gauntlet has been passed,” the directors declared while summing up the post.

Though Spider-Man: Brand New Day beat Avengers: Endgame on several fronts, it still strains the fastest-film-ever record to reach $1 billion worldwide.

However, the tide is expected to turn as the Russo brothers-directed Marvel’s upcoming tentpole Avengers: Doomsday is set to arrive in cinemas on Dec. 18 and could trump the fourth Spidey outing’s boom by registering its own records.
