Hollywood is in a roil over the artificial intelligence inroads, with widespread opposition; some have, however, lent support to the technology.

Brad Pitt is seemingly one of them.

In his view, AI can help in slashing budgets in the up to $90 million range if it’s used smartly.

The films the Academy-winning actor has had in mind are mid-budget ones.

“If used as a tool, it is going to help these mid-budget films, $40 to $90 million-budgeted films, get made,” he told Esquire.

Despite his suggestion, Pitt is aware of the prevalence of anti-AI views in the industry, admitting, “There’s a lot of pushback against AI.”

Critics fear the technology may potentially replace actors; however, on that count, the F1 star is not sold.

Asked about his performances which AI could recreate, Pitt said, “Well, it depends on who’s creating it, you know? Who’s behind it, who’s telling the story.”

“Who’s saying, ‘I want to see this emotion from him’ and then being able to mine through whatever AI provides and going, ‘More in this direction,’ and tailoring it in that way.”

“So they could, but the final product might not be my choices and what I found and discovered in the thing,” he said.

Regardless, Pitt’s remarks come at a juncture when the Hollywood unions are raising the guardrail against the feared implications of AI.
