Ariana Grande is giving fans a glimpse of her creative process.
On Sunday, August 9, the pop star shared never-before-seen pictures and clips from the studio sessions behind her latest album, petal. Captioned “petal forever,” the 19-slide post showed Grande, 33, working tirelessly to record her eighth studio album with co-writer Ilya Salmanzadeh and other members of her team.
In one slide, Grande documented herself recording some ad-libs and harmonies for the hook of the song like i do, admitting that it could either be “overkill” or, if “timed well,” work really well.
Another clip showed her production team working on the title track, whose newly released music video drew massive backlash.
Amid the scrutiny surrounding her weight as well as her personal life (Grande recently got back together with Ricky Alvarez weeks after her breakup from Ethan Slater was announced), the multi-Grammy winner announced that she will be taking a step back from the spotlight after her eternal sunshine tour concludes in September.
Kicking off the tour in June, Grande played 31 shows before wrapping up the North American leg in Chicago last week. She will now begin her 10-date residency in London’s O2 Arena before officially ending the tour on September 1.
