Aleem accuses Gen Faiz of orchestrating his imprisonment | The Express Tribune

Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Aleem Khan on Thursday accused former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed of orchestrating his imprisonment, saying that he aspired to become the next army chief.

Addressing a workers’ convention in Taxila, Aleem accused deposed prime minister Imran Khan of going against his own party leaders whenever an opportunity arrived. He said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) went after Aamer Kayani while cases were registered against women belonging to Jahangir Tareen’s family.

Aleem said that cases were also filed against his daughter, questioning the ethical standards of such actions.

He highlighted the efforts of his party members, when they were part of PTI, for a new Pakistan, stating that no stone was left unturned in the pursuit of a prosperous nation.

He accused Imran Khan of being disloyal not only in politics but also with his family. He questioned the integrity of a person who remained prime minister for over three years without meeting his sons.

“A person who does not even met his sons for three years, how could he be loyal to us,” he added.

Aleem said that Imran Khan, who used to say he would make everyone cry, is now sitting and crying in prison himself and demanding desi (organic) chicken. “You are in jail, where you used to send other people. Now, if you are crying, it’s Allah’s system.”

Speaking on the occasion, IPP Chairman Jahangir Khan Tareen recalled that in 2011, their entire group joined PTI, with a vision to build a new Pakistan.

Tareen urged members to focus on the present and future, urging them to forget the past and make an effort for the betterment of the country.

“We have a great country but we keep fighting among ourselves which is the reason for our downfall,” he added.

Tareen cautioned against avoiding challenges. “Do not shy away from challenges. A country deteriorates when challenges are ignored. Strive for your rights, keep your objectives high, and uphold your beliefs,” he urged. Tareen emphasised the role of individuals in leading the country to its full potential.

“You are the strength that will carry our voice forward. Together, let us take Pakistan to its highest potential. In the 75 years that have passed, let us accomplish what has not been possible before. Let us prioritise the people and collectively build a new Pakistan.”
