J. Cole cancels California show after tragic incident

J. Cole announced the cancellation of his California show just hours ahead of his performance after tragic news.

On Thursday, August 27, the 41-year-old American rapper and record producer was set to perform at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, but after the sudden death of one of his crew members, the show was cancelled.

A spokesperson for the arena posted a statement on Facebook that read, “Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole’s show scheduled for tonight, August 27, at Golden 1 Center has been cancelled.”

“Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement continued.

According to KCRA, the unfortunate accident occurred just after 6:05 a.m. local time on Interstate 5 in Yolo County between the Zamora and Dufour areas and northwest of Woodland.

Per the local news station, “an overturned big rig transporting the 41-year-old rapper’s equipment was driven by the victim.” No other vehicles were affected in the accident.

It is pertinent to mention that the Yolo County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jarlath Parkinson, who was 66 years old.
