Hayden Panettiere’s estranged mom is clapping back at Gayle King after the host criticized the grieving mom after the death of the Heroes star.

Lesley Vogel, Hayden’s mom, opened up about the painful remark the CBS Mornings host made about her and called her out to show some empathy.

She told Daily Mail, “I was very, very hurt and deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism, the lack of compassion in slamming someone who’s lost two children, without even a modicum of consideration.”

“No one reached out to me before. It’s shameful. It’s unconscionable to me.”

Hayden’s first statement after her tragic passing read, “I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments. And I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle, and it’s a very challenging industry, and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.”

Lesley then called out Hayden’s on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, saying, “This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson.”

However, one day after the statement, Gayle criticized Lesley’s statement on her CBS Mornings.

She said during her show’s Wednesday episode, “You know, guys, you read this, and all I can think is, ‘Thanks, Mom, for nothing.’”

“It makes me so sad of the opportunity that you have after your daughter’s death,” she continued. “That that’s what you choose to leave us with.”

It is pertinent to mention that Gayle’s comment stemmed from her last interview with Hayden back in May, in which the late child star spoke about her “complicated relationship with her mom.”

For those unversed, Hayden Panettiere passed away at the age of 36. She stayed her final days with her on and off boyfriend Brian Hickerson and her brother at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina.
