Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any threat against Iran’s leadership or people would trigger an “immediate and powerful” response.
Reacting to remarks by Israeli minister of military affairs Israel Katz, Araghchi wrote in a post on X that Tel Aviv was attempting to undermine the agreement recently signed between Tehran and Washington.
“The terms of the Islamabad MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) are crystal clear and public for all to see,” Araghchi said.
He said that under the MoU, signed on June 18, US President Donald Trump “has committed the US to muzzling its pets in Tel Aviv. If they ignore their master, Iran will school them.”
“Any threat against our People and Leadership will receive an immediate and powerful response,” the foreign minister warned.
Katz had threatened Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei on Monday, saying he was “marked for death.”
The threat came despite the interim agreement, brokered by Pakistan and Qatar, which ended the joint US-Israeli war against Iran and commits Iran, the US and its allies to refrain from launching military operations, threatening one another, or using force.
The United States and Israel assassinated former Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the first day of the 40-day war against Iran, which began on February 28.
On Wednesday, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) vowed that those responsible for the crime would face retribution “at the right time” at the hands of “righteous elements.”
