Delhi Traffic Advisory: Restrictions near Qutub Minar and Mehrauli on April 12 amid expected rush


In a recent update, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for those planning to explore South Delhi’s iconic heritage attractions including Qutub Minar and Mehrauli Archaeological Park on April 12, 2026. According to PTI, visitors should be prepared for traffic restrictions and congestion in the region as special traffic regulations will be enforced between 4 PM and 9 PM on Sunday. The move comes after expecting a significant surge in visitors and vehicular movement at these landmarks. Roads affected by trafficAnuvrat Marg → Qutub Minar (via Phool Mandi)Crescent Marg → Qutub Minar (via Masjid Haji Ali Jan)Kalka Dass Marg → Qutub MinarThese roads are expected to witness congestion. To make sure there’s smooth traffic flow, heavy and commercial vehicles won’t be permitted on many roads leading toward Qutub Minar, particularly via routes such as Phool Mandi and Masjid Haji Ali Jan. The advisory also states that heavy and commercial vehicles will NOT be allowed on these roads.Strict parking regulationsThere are some strict parking rules to including:No halting No parking There are designated parking spaces in the Mehrauli area where visitors are advised to park. If any person is caught violating the rules, their vehicles will be towed away. They will also have to pay a penalty as per law.Alternative routesThe Delhi Traffic Police has shared alternative routes for the convenience of commuters:Aurobindo MargAnuvrat Marg (regulated use)Crescent RoadKalka Dass Marg (restricted access direction-wise)Meanwhile, those heading towards major transit points including IGI AirportNew Delhi Railway Station ISBT terminals People are advised to plan their journeys well in advance and expect possible delays.

It is noted for its 12th-century minaret and historic ruins. Holidays and weekends are unusually crowded in the region as it attracts large crowds.
