Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has urged the PML-N and the PPP to set aside their differences and "move forward" from the Sindh-Punjab row.
Speaking on a private news channel, the senior PML-N leader said, "The current political leadership — should sit down at the table and resolve their political issues, and by resolving them, they should create the path forward".
He added that "there will be no interference from that side," apparently referring to the establishment, and maintained that the quarter would instead "provide help" if politicians settled their disputes.
When asked whether the tensions were linked to speculation about Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir assuming the presidency, Sanaullah dismissed the rumours, saying the matter had already been rubbished by "the relevant quarters".
He clarified that the army chief "has no personal agenda and this talk is completely wrong that he has any [other] intention or agenda".
The adviser added that the army chief would "go home" upon retirement and "he has absolutely no intention of coming to the Prime Minister's House or President House".
Sanaullah noted that the army chief himself had rejected such speculation as fabrications spread by elements "conspiring against the ruling setup".
