Update on Zomato Legends – after two years of trying, not finding product market fit, we have decided to shut down the service with immediate effect, says Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal.
Online food ordering platform Zomato on August 22 decided to shut down its ‘Zomato Legends’.
“Update on Zomato Legends – after two years of trying, not finding product market fit, we have decided to shut down the service with immediate effect,” Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal in a post on X.
‘Legends’ was launched as an intercity food delivery service, to bring “legendary” food from different regions to customers nationwide. Customers could order an item from a city far away. For example, Biryani from a restaurant in Hyderabad sitting in Delhi.
Zomato Legends was a premium service which, featured a curated selection of top-rated restaurants that have been specially chosen for their high-quality and consistently delicious food.
In July 2024, Zomato restarted its ‘Intercity Legends’ service, which the company had shut down in April. The company also increased the minimum order value to Rs 5,000 to make each delivery more profitable than earlier.
The move comes a day after Zomato decided to acquire Paytm’s ticketing business.
Shares of Zomato on Thursday slipped Rs 2.15 or 0.83 per cent to close at Rs 257.8 apiece on the BSE.
