President Asif Ali Zardari has approved a change in the constitution of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC).“The change became necessary after the Government of Balochistan revised its nomination, recommending Mahfooz Ali Khan as its non ex-officio member in the 11th NFC. The President accorded approval to this nomination, superseding the earlier approval,” President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release issued in Islamabad on Saturday.
The NFC plays a key role in determining the distribution of financial resources between the federation and the provinces. The latest changes are aimed at finalizing the commission’s composition so it can begin its work.
Moreover, the federal government has postponed the scheduled meeting of the National Finance Commission (NFC) due to the worsening flood situation across the country.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the Sindh government had requested a delay, citing the difficulties created by the ongoing floods. Officials confirmed that the meeting will be rescheduled once conditions improve.
Moreover, the president has also given his assent to the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, as passed by the Parliament.
