KARACHI:
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has unveiled its official anthem for the 11th edition, titled “Khelenge Beat Pe”, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the decade-old tournament.
The anthem features a star-studded lineup including Atif Aslam, Aima Baig, and the Sabri Sisters, alongside emerging rap artist Daniya Kanwal.
According to a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board, the anthem reflects the PSL’s journey over the past 10 years, capturing its growth into one of the country’s most celebrated sporting events. This season also marks a significant milestone as the league expands to eight teams for the first time.
The song aims to highlight the deep-rooted passion for cricket across Pakistan, portraying how the league has become a shared cultural moment that unites fans nationwide each year since its inception in 2016.
For Aslam, this marks his second PSL anthem appearance after 2022’s “Agay Dekh”, while Baig returns for her fourth outing, having previously featured in “Groove Mera” (2021) and “Khul Ke Khel” (2024), among others.
The PSL 11 tournament is set to begin on 26 March at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Matches will also be hosted in Karachi, with both cities scheduled to stage 22 matches each.
The league, which has grown into a major cricketing spectacle, continues to draw millions of viewers, reinforcing its place as one of Pakistan’s premier sporting events.
After the conclusion of the tenth season in 2025, the initial ten-year franchise agreements for the six original teams expired. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) engaged Ernst & Young to conduct a valuation of the league’s assets to set new terms for the next decade (2026-2035). In October 2025, HBL Pakistan renewed its title sponsorship for PSL for the next two years.
In November 2025, five of then existing six franchises successfully renewed their contracts under the new financial model except Multan Sultans. As part of the PCB’s plan to expand the league from six to eight teams, an auction for two new franchises was held on 8 January 2026. Six cities were shortlisted for consideration: Faisalabad, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi and Sialkot.
Following the auction, Hyderabad Kingsmen and Sialkot were selected as the seventh and eighth teams, with ownership rights acquired by FKS Group and OZ Developers respectively.
Then Multan Sultans franchise owner Ali Tareen announced that he would not renew his agreement with the PCB, citing financial losses and disagreements regarding the league’s management.
Thus, PCB decided to resale the franchise through an auction on 9 February 2026, where Walee Technologies acquired it and rebranded the identity to Rawalpindiz after relocating. Later, Sialkot owners sold the franchise to CD Ventures who rebranded and brought back Multan Sultans.
