South African bowler Carmi le Roux was severely injured when he was struck on the head by the ball during a Major League cricket match in the US.
The accident occurred when Ryan Rickelton, batting for the Seattle Orcas and le Roux’s fellow South African, played a shot that sent the ball directly into le Roux’s head, causing significant bleeding.
Le Roux was quickly taken off the field for medical treatment and was fortunately conscious afterwards, which helped him avoid more serious injury. Despite this, his participation in the remainder of the tournament is now uncertain, although the franchise has yet to issue an official statement regarding his condition.
In le Roux’s absence, American all-rounder Corey Anderson stepped in to complete the remaining overs. The Major League, which began on July 5, is set to conclude with its final match on July 28.
