Sharmila Faruqui slams Khalilur Rehman Qamar, says his dramas should be boycotted

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) politician Sharmila Faruqui has made her stance crystal clear regarding writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar. During her appearance on TV host Waseem Badami’s show, Faruqui expressed strong disapproval of the renowned drama writer, openly calling him a “misogynist” and stating that his work should not be supported.

The moment Qamar’s name was mentioned in a game segment, Faruqui instantly reacted with, “Uff, I don’t like him or I don’t want to talk about him.” When Waseem Badami asked her to clarify her opinion, she did not hesitate to reaffirm her view, declaring, “He is such a misogynist.”

Badami followed up by asking whether she believed women should refuse to work on his projects. In response, Faruqui said, “I think nobody should even watch his dramas and producers also should not produce his serials.”

She voiced full support for a boycott of his work, citing what she described as his “very below the belt” remarks, which she found highly inappropriate.

The writer has been under fire for his comments about Saba Qamar and Mahira Khan.

His feud with Saba Qamar began when he criticized her dress choice at an award show, claiming that her attire went against his values and beliefs. Despite acknowledging her talent, he made it clear that she could never work in any of his projects due to her fashion choices.

He is also notorious for several of his feuds in the Pakistani entertainment industry notably with Noman Ijaz, Adnan Malik, Urwa Hocane and Resham.

Faruqui also commented on a recent controversy involving actor Danish Taimoor, criticising his ‘flhal’ remark and describing it as “so disgusting.”

She went on to praise Ayeza Khan, his wife, for maintaining her grace after the remark was made during a live show.
