He returns with Bullah, shares his career journey, influences, and denies arrogance rumors publicly
Shaan Shahid is considered one of Pakistan’s top film stars. Since his debut in Bulandi, his career has steadily grown, making him one of the prominent figures in the industry. After staying away from the spotlight, he is set to return this Eidul Fitr in the new film Bullah.
In a podcast with Zohaib Saleem Butt, he discussed his upcoming project and his journey in the cinema industry.
He revealed that early in his career, he received offers for Punjabi films. Having just returned from New York, he decided to stay in classical Punjabi cinema and understand the style of its heroes. He says he watched nearly 2,000 films featuring actors like Sultan Rahi and Sudhir. While adopting some of their expressions and mannerisms, he developed his own unique performance, which later became his trademark.
Addressing the perception that he is arrogant or difficult to work with, Shahid clarified that he prefers to keep a small circle of close friends. He emphasized that he treats people with respect and does not believe in showing off.
According to him, the idea that it is hard to work with is simply not true.
Shahid also expressed optimism for the future of Pakistani cinema, noting that by bringing in young directors, exploring different forms of production, and uniting the industry, Pakistan’s films could reach new heights.
“It’s a business. You have to understand ke apne pura model ka business banana hota hai”, said Shahid.
However he expressed that government support is crucial, emphasizing that grants received should be distributed evenly and could help make something remarkable.
“I think that news is important for them and entertainment is not. Sharing news is important but not making people laugh, cry or feel entertained”, he said. Shahid further expressed that the entertainment industry in Punjab could achieve great potential if it received the same importance as television.
