ISLAMABAD: Security has been placed on high alert in the federal capital amid fears of possible protests, with authorities tightening security around the government district.
Officials said access to the Red Zone has been restricted, while several roads leading to the area have been closed to traffic.

According to authorities, containers have been placed on major roads to block access to sensitive areas.

Around 1,000 security personnel have been deployed around the Red Zone to maintain law and order.

Officials said Section 144 has been imposed in the federal capital, placing a complete ban on public gatherings, rallies and protests.
Authorities added that the enhanced security measures are aimed at ensuring peace and preventing any potential unrest in the city.
