As part of India’s grandest Qawwali tour, Sagar Wali Qawwali took over the iconic NSCI Dome in Mumbai. The musical night was the city’s biggest Qawwali night in recent memory.

Sagar Bhatia’s energetic performance had the crowd on its feet.

When Sagar Bhatia steps on stage, it’s more than a performance – it’s a spiritual invocation. And yesterday, Mumbai witnessed that magic in full force as Sagar Wali Qawwali took over the iconic NSCI Dome in what became the city’s biggest Qawwali night in recent memory.

The Delhi boy didn’t just sing – he owned the city with his soulful, energetic set that had the crowd on its feet from the first note to the final bow. It was a housefull show, and Mumbai showed up in full spirit for the new-age Qawwal who is taking the sufi and Qawwali scene to the next level.

From the moment Sagar stepped on stage till the moment he sat in his car post-show, the atmosphere was energy pro max. Not only did he sing with heart, but he danced, hugged fans, walked into the crowd, gifted fans personalised stoles, and Sagar Wali Qawwali t-shirts – turning every moment into an unforgettable fan celebration.

At one point during the show, Sagar recited a sher that struck a chord with many hearts:

“Yeh wala Ranjha alag hai, is Ranjhe ko bhi Heer ne chhoda hai… Fir uske baad humne banayi Sagar Wali Qawwali, dil ke saare khwaab jitne bhi the, sab bata diye.” The audience responded with thunderous applause and cheers because, in that moment, they weren’t just witnessing an artist; they were connecting with a storyteller.

He paused mid-performance to speak straight from the heart. With emotion in his voice, Sagar said, “Whatever I have done and earned is because of your blessings, your claps, and your cheers. People tell me I should start merchandising Sagar Wali Qawwali t-shirts – but I tell them this is not a business. This is my token of love. I want to throw them to as many people as I can, wherever they reach, let them be blessings. Life is so unpredictable… The incident that happened two days ago – I still haven’t been able to come out of it. God bless the souls. Whatever I am, it’s because of you. Keep loving me. Loving me is your right, scolding me is also your right. You all are my everything.”

He, then, sang “Mera Zism Mera Imaan Bhi Tu”, and it felt like the whole dome sang it with him.

Another standout surprise came when Sagar performed “Insaaf kardo, mujhe maaf kardo… Dil de diya hai” – a track fans didn’t expect to hear. The dome exploded with excitement as the melody took over, cementing the night as unforgettable.

A truly special moment of the night was also when Sagar thanked singer-composer Vishal Mishra for his beautiful song “Pehle Bhi Main” – and then performed a stunning Qawwali version of the track. The crowd erupted. Fans screamed, danced, sang every word, often even before Sagar could complete the verse himself.

Currently on India’s grandest Qawwali tour, Sagar delivered a stirring, soul-soaked set that transcended genres, generations, and geographies. Dressed in a classic black kurta and accompanied by an ensemble of masterful musicians, he brought to life a mehfil that felt both intimate and monumental.

The night was a mesmerising blend of timeless Sufi kalams, fresh reinterpretations, and his crowd-favourite originals. Each rendition was met with roaring cheers, tearful smiles, and thousands of voices rising in unison. As part of India’s grandest Qawwali tour, the journey doesn’t stop here. Up next: Bangalore (June 21), Jaipur (June 22), and Indore (June 28). Each city is poised to witness the same sonic storm and sufi soul that lit up Mumbai.

Because one thing is certain: Sagar Bhatia isn’t just reviving Qawwali – he’s redefining it for a new generation.
