Walking up the runway, legendary designer Rohit Bal grooved the lyrics of the song Afterglow, surrounded by his models and showstopper Ananya Panday. Rohit Bal who passed away at the age of 63 on November 1, 2024, left behind a legacy that will be celebrated for years to come.
In spite of his health issues, Rohit showed up and won everyone’s hearts at the House of Lakme grand finale. Thus, proving that there is no one like him. A fitting grand finale for a legendary star, the showcase saw Rohit unveil Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe collection. The collection walked everyone through the wonders of nature and celebrated the bloom of life and beauty through Rohit Bal’s creative vision.
Rohit Bal’s Last Dance on the fashion runway will live forever in our hearts. As he would truly believe the show must go on, Rohit’s showcase was an emotional moment for every single person watching the show. As each statement piece celebrated his love for nature, Rohit’s journey will always be incomplete without his signature roses.
Kaaynaat was his ode to nature, which was beautifully captured in an array of festive silhouettes. From flora and fauna motifs enhanced with rich, handcrafted textiles, the collection celebrated Rohit’s storytelling through couture.
Ananya Panday turned muse for Rohit Bal and looked stunning in the velvet ensemble featuring the larger-than-life nature-inspired motifs in shades of red. Ananya also shared a memory of Rohit Bal, saying how she stole a velvet jacket from her dad’s closet which was designed by Rohit and how he will always treasure it.

“My parents have known Rohit [Bal] sir for so long and they were like, One person you need to work with is him. My dad has a jacket that Gudda [Rohit Bal] made for my dad, which is a velvet blazer very similar to this [showstopper look], featuring embroidered roses and animals. I stole it from my dad’s closet. I treasure it and I am waiting for a special occasion to wear it,” expressed Ananya.
While this showcase was considered Rohit Bal’s comeback show after his health scare, this grand finale showcase is an emotion that will live in our hearts forever.
