Federer’s second life lesson, which he learned from being a professional tennis player is that “It’s only a point”, and so one shouldn’t be too harsh on themselves. Instead, one should accept their failures, reflect and learn from them, and move on in life rather than dwell on past mistakes.
“In the 1,526 singles matches I played in my career, I won almost 80% of those matches. Now, I have a question for all of you… what percentage of the POINTS do you think I won in those matches? Only 54%. When you’re playing a point, it is the most important thing in the world. But when it’s behind you, it’s behind you,” he said.
Life is also like tennis, and it is full of ups and downs. However, what determines one’s success is how quickly one gets over failures and the hard moments in life.
