RAWALPINDI – Several roads in garrison city of Rawalpindi have been blocked by placing containers as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced countrywide protests against proposed constitutional amendments after Friday prayers.
Reports said barriers have been placed on Peshawar Road near Charing Cross and on Nal Road near MH while one lane is currently kept open for traffic.
Zigzag barricades have also been set up at the entry points to Rawalpindi, with police personnel deployed.
Routes leading to Murree Chowk and Liaquat Bagh are closed, while single-lane traffic is being allowed at Sawan Bridge. All other routes in Rawalpindi remain open as usual.
Metro Bus Services Suspended
In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the Metro bus service has been suspended for the fifth day.
The service was first suspended from October 14 to 16 due to security concerns during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference. It remained closed on October 17 as well, and the bus service is also suspended today, Friday.

Ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Parliamentary Leader in Senate Irfan Siddiqui said on Thursday that the bill on constitutional package would be tabled in the upper house of the parliament on Friday, claiming that JUI-F, PPP and PML-N had reached consensus on a comprehensive draft.
It follows the coalition government’s claims of securing desired magic number in parliament as the two-thirds majority required to pass the constitutional amendment.
