At least six people were killed and 19 injured after a powerful explosion and sudden gunfire near the FC (Frontier Corps) Headquarters in eastern Quetta shook the city on Tuesday.
The blast was heard far and wide in the eastern area of Model Town and its surroundings, which is considered a sensitive zone.
The explosion was so powerful that it shattered the windows of nearby houses and buildings.
According to sources, 6 people have been reported dead and 19 injured as a result of the blast.
Gunfire was also heard in the area after the explosion, spreading panic and fear among residents.
Police officials stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the nature of the explosion.
Rescue teams and police personnel have reached the spot, and the area has been cordoned off for a search operation.
Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman have declared an emergency at Civil Hospital Quetta, BMC Hospital Quetta, and the Trauma Centre.
According to the health department, all consultants, doctors, pharmacists, nursing staff, and paramedical staff are present at the hospitals.
Rescue sources report that the bodies of 5 deceased and 20 injured have been transferred to various hospitals.
After one of the injured succumbed to their injuries during treatment, the death toll rose to 6.
Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed the deaths of 6 people, stating that the remaining 19 injured individuals are under treatment in hospitals.
