Punjab opens online portal for Sikh tourists – SUCH TV



For the first time in the history of the Pakistan, the government has officially set up a platform to facilitate religious tourism in the country.

Sikh pilgrims can avail of online booking service, named the ‘Sikh Yatra Booking Portal’ for booking hotels, security and transportation. Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the portal on Thursday.

This online service aims to provide facilities to Sikh pilgrims through which they can book hotels and transport from entire the world and it will also promote religious tourism in the country.

On the occasion, CM Naqvi vowed to provide full security to Sikh pilgrims who come to Pakistan four times a year to participate in their religious festivities.

Naqvi also pledged that Sikh pilgrims would be given full mercy and that this portal would overcome the problems that pilgrims had to face in Pakistan during their previous visits.

In a bid to give them security and protocol, the authorities have decided to form a tourism police.

In addition, Dr Mambal Singh, a member of the Prabandhak Committee, expressed gratitude towards CM Naqvi and said Sikh pilgrims cannot ignore the love they receive from Pakistan.

“They become ambassadors of goodwill of Pakistan when they return to India, Naqvi won the heart of Sikhs after creating this online service which will provide the streamlined path to attend their religious events,” said the Sikh leader.

Minister of Information and Tourism Amir Mir, Chief Secretary Punjab, IGP Punjab, Secretary Tourism, Commissioner Lahore, CCPO Lahore, and others attended the inaugural ceremony, while Sikh leader also participated in the event and appreciated the efforts of Punjab government to promote good ties between two nations.
