PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar's house 'raided', family beaten up – SUCH TV

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Saturday claimed that security forces raided his home in Islamabad, roughed up his son and nephew and took away documents and equipment.

Barrister Gohar made this claim in the Supreme Court during the hearing of the election commission’s appeal against the Peshawar High Court’s decision to let the PTI use its bat election symbol.

While Barrister Ali Zafar was extending his arguments, the PTI chairman told the chief justice that he had just found out that four vehicles had raided his home, his nephew beaten up and all the documents taken away.

The chief justice told the attorney general for Pakistan that this should not have happened, if it did. The counsel had left the Supreme Court and gone home, but returned shortly after.

The PTI also posted about the alleged raid on its official X account, claiming Barrister Gohar’s house was raided by unknown men, who came in four vans, “assaulted his family members”, including his son and nephew, and took away his laptops and documents.

Later, the Islamabad police claimed that they had raised Barrister Gohar’s house on a misunderstanding, as they were conducting raids to arrest proclaimed offenders. They said the forces returned without any action when they found out it was Gohar’s house.

They also claimed that nobody was beaten up, or any documents were taken away. On returning to the Supreme Court, Barrister Gohar alleged that his house had been attacked and that a laptop and documents had been taken away. CJP Isa asked about him the situation, to which he replied it was very serious.

The additional attorney general told the court that he had talked to the Islamabad inspector general of police and he would apprise the court of any information he receives. The CJP then ordered him to fix the situation immediately.

The AAG said he had also spoken to the interior secretary, who along with the IGP, is looking into the matter.

Gohar said he did not trust anyone and wanted to inform the court of what happened. When the CJP stopped him, he said all limits have been crossed now.

AAG Aamir Rehman said he had spoken to the attorney general who is speaking to the IGP and other officials, adding that Barrister Gohar had shown him the mobile footage from his house.

Gohar told the court the police had beaten up people at home and taken away laptops.
