ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) slammed the Shehbaz-led government over the unprecedented surge in petroleum prices, calling for All-Parties Conference (APC) to confront the issue.
Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar speaking at a press conference with party leaders, called the price hike “unjustifiable” and warned it has outpaced increases in other countries.
“Even in Nigeria, price rises were lower than ours. Shockingly, we have surpassed Vietnam! The only factor affecting prices is the Iran situation, yet the government has exploited it excessively,” he added.
Taimoor Saleem Jhagra further tore into the government, saying, “In four years, this administration has done nothing for the economy. Whenever fuel prices decrease, the Prime Minister himself announces it. He should have personally announced this massive hike. Now, they cannot even face the public.”
Jhagra added that for three weeks, the Prime Minister repeatedly claimed to be providing “relief” to the people, yet “in Pakistan’s history, petroleum products have never been raised this high before.”
