In the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Multan Sultans have emerged as a dominant force, securing their third consecutive win by defeating Lahore Qalandars by five wickets on Wednesday.
Former cricketer Azhar Ali, while speaking on a local sports channel, revealed that the secret behind Multan’s success seems to lie in team’s strategy of sticking to the basics.
“They [Multan Sultans] are just doing the simple things right. They’re not doing anything extraordinary. When they bowl yorkers, they do it with full focus. When they bowl slower ones, they commit fully. And when they need to maintain line and length, they are fully committed to it. I think their captaincy, plans, everything has been kept quite simple,” Azhar said.
Furthermore, former captain Misbah-ul-Haq also credited Multan’s bowling unit for their commendable performance.
“We must give credit to Multan’s bowling. It was good bowling that despite not taking wickets, they didn’t allow Lahore to score freely,” Misbah said.
It is worth noting that Multan Sultans are undoubtedly shaping up to be serious contenders in PSL 9. Their first win came against Karachi Kings, where they won by a significant margin of 55 runs. Followed by second win against Islamabad United and third against Lahore Qalandars.
