President Asif Ali Zardari has been discharged from a Karachi hospital after showing significant signs of recovery, his physician Dr Asim Hussain confirmed on Friday.

Zardari was admitted on April 1 after being shifted from Nawabshah to Karachi on the night of Eid ul Fitr for advanced medical care. He remained under treatment for over 10 days at a private hospital, receiving care from infectious disease specialists and undergoing physiotherapy as part of his recovery process.

Dr Asim had earlier informed the media that the president had tested negative for Covid-19 on a rapid test, though he continued to be monitored closely. “The president is improving and responding well to treatment,” he said.

President Zardari had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 2 and was kept in isolation under strict medical supervision. Multiple diagnostic tests were conducted during his hospital stay, and doctors had restricted all visitations as a precautionary measure.

With his condition now stable, the president has been allowed to return home.
