President, PM extend greetings to China on 75th anniversary


ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm congratulations to the people and leadership of China on the 75th anniversary of China.

Addressing a reception held in Islamabad on Thursday, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to working with China for shared prosperity and global peace. He emphasized the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), noting that its high-quality development would unlock greater benefits, enhancing regional connectivity and prosperity.

He also highlighted the historic achievements of the Chinese people, commending their struggles under the Communist Party’s leadership. Zardari reflected on the deep, enduring Pakistan-China friendship, which has evolved into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the event, called it a great day as the two nations celebrated their strong bond. He recalled his June visit to China, praising the warmth and hospitality he received.

Sharif reiterated the unbreakable ties between Pakistan and China, describing their friendship as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the ocean.” He expressed gratitude for China’s support in helping Pakistan navigate difficult times, especially with IMF conditions, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s positions on Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other international matters.

Looking forward, the Prime Minister highlighted the second phase of CPEC as a critical opportunity to transform Pakistan’s economy, with potential for cooperation in agriculture, IT, mining, and other key sectors. He also anticipated the visit of the Chinese Premier to Pakistan next month, hoping to further strengthen bilateral ties.
