PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Karachi for two-day visit, meets Sindh chief minister | The Express Tribune


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Karachi for a two-day visit and after his arrival held a one-on-one meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah at the Chief Minister’s House.

According to the Chief Minister’s House spokesperson, the meeting focused on various federal and Sindh-related issues, including political, social, and economic matters. Discussions covered ongoing development projects, such as electricity and gas issues.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the federal government’s commitment to providing public relief and inquired about the progress of flood relief efforts.

Chief Minister Shah updated the Prime Minister on the ongoing reconstruction of flood-affected homes and expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit to Karachi.

Prior to the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif was welcomed by Chief Minister Shah at the Chief Minister’s House.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Waseem, and IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, alongside Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, and several Federal Ministers, including Mohammad Aurangzeb, Aleem Khan, Khalid Maqbool, Ata Tarar, and Rana Tanveer.

In addition to the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif addressed the Second International Food and Agriculture Exhibition, where he highlighted the substantial opportunities for increasing agricultural exports.

He stated that the target for agricultural exports should be set at $7 billion for the upcoming year.

The Prime Minister emphasised the need for modern technology and research to enhance exports and supported the initiative to send 1,000 graduates annually to China for agricultural training.

Sharif also praised Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic gold medal achievement, noting its significance as a national milestone.

The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s dedication to advancing the agricultural sector and increasing exports, citing recent projects and collaboration opportunities with China and Gulf countries.
