Pakistan’s newly launched remote sensing satellite now fully operational – SUCH TV

Pakistan’s recently launched remote sensing satellite has officially become operational after its successful deployment from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre last month.

According to a statement by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the satellite has established stable links with ground stations and has started transmitting high-resolution imagery, significantly improving data access and reliability for multiple national sectors.

Equipped with advanced imaging technology, the satellite will play a key role in urban planning, infrastructure development, and regional monitoring by providing valuable insights into expansion and growth trends.

It will also boost disaster management through timely data for early warnings and quick response to floods, earthquakes, landslides, and other natural hazards, while assisting environmental protection by monitoring glacier melt, deforestation, and climate change indicators.

As the country’s second remote sensing satellite after PRSS-1, it is expected to strengthen agricultural productivity via precision farming, crop pattern mapping, and improved water resource management, ultimately contributing to food security.

In addition, it will play a strategic role in national development projects such as the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by mapping transportation networks, identifying geohazard risks, and facilitating efficient resource allocation.

“Collectively, these capabilities will not only improve decision-making across multiple sectors but also promote sustainable socio-economic development and strengthen Pakistan’s technological autonomy,” remarked Suparco.
